Nice post Paul....I was visualizing you in your comfort zone. Things sure have moved on in the virtual flying world.....remember when the clouds were white blocks . I recall being blown away by the first virtual cockpit....and on went. I think 2024 was the game changer for me ....FSX was so so.

SU5 is now live, and the sim is a lot better than it was. As expected, some of the original beta gains haven't made it into the final release, but these may just relate to developers. Not quite sure how to gauge whether the Xbox version has updated, but they certainly have the PC sorted, the update was quick, smooth and hassle-free. My upgrade to SU5 was surprisingly problem free. None of that going round in circles like before. Performance appears to have improved a fair bit. Due to hardware, space and money limitations I've been on Xbox Series X for the last year and a half with MSFS2020 and now MSFS2024 through Game Pass. It's been terrific but does have the issues of using a game controller (proper HOTAS etc is available, but again cost prohibitive for me at the moment) and being limited to addons available in the official Marketplace. I've been having a ton of fun but having the issues Robin's mentioned with inappropriate autogen (rocks on grass runways, a radio mast in the middle of Whanganui's apron) and all the limitations of Asobo's scenery generation....

Just wondering, do you use photogrammetry? If so have you noticed better blending into default colour's? I do use photogrammetry, but only because it looks ok from a certain height. The clash of photogrammetry and photo tiles is still an issue, that's for sure. Today I tried the latest SU4 beta download, which is starting to look promising. I have decided that I have to stick with 1080p if I want reasonable performance at higher settings, a bit of a waste on my 4K monitor. But no crashes so far. I can even use the in-game development mode without bringing the sim to its knees. Loading the sim...
