John Young - LC-130 Hercules

Postby gsnde » Mon Nov 25, 2019 4:39 am

The first time in months I could fire up the sim not in order to make a release screenshot, but to have a go at a new aircraft I was eager to see.

What should I say - I am in love with this one!

Great shots and I like the snowflakes in your screenshots. Where were you taking off from?

John Young - LC-130 Hercules

Postby gsnde » Mon Nov 25, 2019 7:42 am

Thanks a lot, Charl :D

Aharon, Charl is talking about John Young. He has build a huge range of military AI aircraft. Being originally a scenery designer with the ACG Team, he crossed over to AI development after he designed some aircraft to bring life to his RAF Duxford package: Mustang, Lancaster, Hurricane etc. To name just a few of his aircraft: all three V-Bombers, the B-17/24/25/36/47/58, Harrier, Hunter, Buccaneer, Osprey, Canberra, Lighting, F-15, F-111, Tornado, ShinMaywa, many of the Sikorsky helicopter and much more.

Although he started on a very high quality level with his first releases already, he has come a long way since then and many of his AI looks equivalent to flyable aircraft.

As for the future - MAIW is just coming to the last mile of a very ambitious project: we have converted all our FS9 AI aircraft to either FSX or P3Dv4 format. Plus many non-MAIW developers have trusted us with the conversion and release of their military AI, like Sergey Bunevich, Andrew Hall, Morné Pieters etc.

I will make sure to release the complete overview at this forum once we are done. If you want to take a look before - all packages are available for free in the MAIW download section.

So my hope is that 2020 will either provide us with a compatibility for at least P3Dv4 models. If that is not given, we are in for another conversion project when Arno has made that possible with his ingenious tool.

The LC-130 is indeed a lucky bird - Aurora Borealis on the first day...

Aharon,

The screenshots are P3Dv4. The Aurora Borealis is part of the OrbX ENJA Jan Mayensfield package. She is especially nice, but as hard to find as the default ones in P3D.

THULE AB ist part of John's LC-130 package, you find this in the FS9 and FSX/P3D version in the download center right on top if you select the by newest view (this will outdate pretty soon though... ;:))

MAIW you find at https://militaryaiworks.com

Gsnde,

COOl list!!!

Out of curiosity, since you are knowledgable in military bases, do you know any TERRIFIC freeware or payware US Coast Guard air bases in Alaska that have runways long enough for US Coast Guard C-130s please? Must be for FSX use please

Hi Aharon.

The legacy MAIW packages are for FS9, the new world of Matrix provides them converted to P3D. So you are stuck a bit in the middle.
But since FSX has no issues with FS9 sceneries in principle, you may want to have a look at the packages "Elmendorf AFB" and "Alaska and the Islands ANG".

Since you are obviously interested in this I would suggest that you check out what else MAIW has to offer. I daresay that there is no better place for Military AI... :wink2:
