Aircraft: Republic F-84F "Thunderstreak"
Developed at the end of the Korean War but no longer in service this version of the F-84 with dart wings was actually already outdated when it was put into service in many NATO countries from 1954 and was inferior to the Soviet MiG 17 or the French Dassault Mystere IVA. She was rather underpowered and certainly not the best litter. The company Republic had in the 2nd. World War built the heaviest single-engined fighter - the P-47 "Thunderbolt. and this is also to write about the Jet-Aircraft after 1945. The pilots called the F-84A-E and G with straight wings "Hog", the F-84F with Swept-back wings "Super Hog" and the later Republic F-105 "Thunderchief" was called "Lead sledge".
1957 - The new German Air Force of the Federal Republic of Germany received these aircraft together with the Lockheed T-33 and the North American F-86 as original equipment. In 1957 the Tactical Air Force Wing 31 "Boelcke"; was established.1961 it converted to the F-104G "Starfighter." The F-84 was in use in Germany up to 1966.
Some of the remaining machines were handed over to Greece in 1966. There the type was in use since 1958. Greece was the longest user. The last remaining examples are retired in Juli 1983
