NZFF October 2017 Screenshot Competition

The competition is now open!
NOTE: We now have TWO VOTES (one in each of TWO POLLS): One in the *visual appeal* poll and one in the *relevance* to the theme poll.
The two votes can go to the same entry or to different ones.
The winner in the "relevance" poll gets the sponsored prize and gets to suggest a theme for the next screencomp, whilst the winner in the "visual appeal" poll gets to have their banner displayed for the following month.

The October theme is: "So Frenchy!" ... chosen by Bugdani (winner of the August (theme) competition) - if you have any theme-related queries, send him a PM!

"So French[y]" could be a french aircraft, location or even pastime ... anything!

Image
This month's competition is kindly sponsored by Alabeo and the winner will receive a download of their choice from their excellent product line.

SCHEDULE
Images can be submitted up until midnight Tuesday 31st October.
Images can be edited up until 11pm Tuesday 31st October.
Voting runs from Wednesday 1st November up until midnight Sunday 5th November (Bonfire Night!).

Please read the rules below: if you have any queries, please PM Comp Admin for clarification **before posting your entry**.

    ELIGIBILITY
  1. Entry (and voting) for the competition is open to all registered NZFF members.

    THE SCREENSHOT
  2. The screenshot image must consist of a screen captured from a flight simulator program (FS2004, FSX, P3D, X-plane, DCS/IL-2 or War Thunder).
  3. Some editing is allowed: additional images can be added (either real or other screenshots), but the main component of the image should always be from a flight sim.

    IMAGE FORMAT
  4. The images can be jpg or png and must be EXACTLY 1280px wide (any depth).
  5. Though "visual appeal" is all about the complete screenshot image, bear in mind that (if it wins that poll), the final banner crops to around 1200px * 380px (max) - which is quite a narrow letter-box shape - so try to compose your shot so as not to lose areas of high interest.
  6. No frames or text on the image.
  7. Keep the original uncompressed/high resolution version (BMP or TIFF) saved on your PC - admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!
  8. DCS users may want to look at these tips.

    SUBMITTING AN ENTRY
  9. Please post all screenshot/entries here - in this topic.
  10. Only one entry/single image per member is allowed.
  11. Images can changed any time up until 1 hour before the closing time: use the "edit" button at the top of the original post, delete the old image link and replace it with the new one.
  12. If possible, please add details of the aircraft depicted and general scenery/location information.

    VOTING
  13. After the competition entry deadline, all registered NZFF members may cast TWO votes: one for visual appeal and one for relevance to the theme.
The two votes can both go to the same entry or to different ones - but you must vote in BOTH polls.
  14. Entrants may not vote on their own screenshots (!).
  15. Voting runs for five days after the entry deadline.
  16. The winner in the "relevance" poll receives the prize from the designated sponsor and gets to suggest a theme for the next screencomp.
  17. The winner in the "visual appeal" poll will have a cropped version of their image posted as the NZFF banner for the following month.

That's it, folks - get snapping!

Comp now closed - winners announced!

Dassault Mirage IIIc above the French Alps, can't get more French than this right? :D

Back at it! A lot happened during the summer (or winter, for most folks here ;) ) most of it good, but it took me off FS for a while.

FranceVFR Rhône Alps Vol. 1, Restauravia Mirage III (highly recommended AND freeware) and REX4 all in P3D V3.4

Bloody Norah!.... :o ...!

This choice is going to be difficult!

Some wonderful shots!

Well done, Lads!

I just wish I could get my Cessna 150 Aerobat started, and take a trip to the Sierra Nevada (Highway 395) in California and Nevada to take some shots, but I need some new Sparking Plugs...and more Jacob's Creek vino.... :( ...!

Paul... B-) ...!

Surprised no modern French built airliners?

Well here, Air NZ Airbus A320 (French built) ZK-OXA swinging around the mountains on the ANPOV2B RNAV RNP departure out of Queenstown. (Chart - http://aip.net.nz/pdf/NZQN_62.3_62.4.pdf 2nd page.)

Just over the hill from Christchurch is the little French town of Akaroa...
Right under the wingtip is la Rue Lavaud and la Rue Jolie. Akaroa was settled by the French in August 1840, although by then Banks Peninsula had been claimed by the British.
The closest thing we have to a little piece of France in Godzone, and a recommended spot for a romantic weekend...

Wow, Bug - what a superb shot (of an amazing aircraft)!

Any chance we could have a 1280px version though? ^_^
