That's because it is just released and they always test in open beta first before making a patch for the other versions. This year they will merge and it will be DCS 2.5 and DCS open beta 2.5. Both maps will be in each version.

This mornings DCS News Letter has me interested with this Normandy 1944 Map and the update. Now all they need is a good tactical bomber, on top of the B-17 Flying Fortress , what is really needed and used a lot more in this area is the Martin B-26 Marauder.

Yes I've seen it over there on the mod forum at ED, wonder if its flyable or just AI .No matter AI is all you need for a good escort scenario. Never done one but it should be interesting, its just the time it takes ,who has 12 hrs to sit , need to be able to save part way through a mission.Flying above a bunch of lumbering bombers for hour upon hour is not really my cup of tea. Even an hour could be hard going. A good mission in Normandy type flying should not take more than 120 minutes tops. I could do that and if I made it back alive I would be happy even if I had shelled out a hundy for the Map.

Its only tactical missions into Normandy, for the AI it should spawn before the arriving close and pass over head for a 3 to 4 hour mission, it is not a deep Germany 12 hour missions, even the fighters close on these missions would take off late because simply they would over haul the bombers ... I don't known how DCS combat works, old story is once the bombers have done there job the fighter go in on strafing missions , then course the developers would think of the scenario and you may have a time lapse option and it automatically comes out of it when fighters or flak areas come into the threat scene.

All well and good to go and strafe a few soft targets ,flak boats etc  . What about those poor Bombers getting picked off on the way home. Mind you keep your distance from the Americans or you may well be looking like the Swiss; chesse that is :D .Yes like the "time lapse option" ,probably won't happen though ,the purests would never allow it.

A real 'Hum Dinga' that's cheating :P , funny those Sioux were the be knees when growing up, these were regulars everyday over Wigram in the late 1960s early 1970s .. course back then was a TV show called 'Skippy' and the Ozzie ranger drove one of these around , albeit with the water floats :)

SUBS , you do get a good one for FSX with amazing modelling, this with DCS I would have to say it is a little limited were return to flight sim it would have more options.

Its a good aircraft for JTAC which is what they used it for back in the day as well as flight training and hanging SAS soldiers under to put in windows lol. IMO it does not look limited from what I've seen I'll wait and see after it is released.
