Aerofly FS 2 - NZ Scenery?

Postby MichaelBasler » Mon Jul 04, 2016 3:07 am

Anyone who owns Aerofly FS 2?

AeroflyFS2

I own it since day 1 and very much enjoy it. I already had Aerofly FS 1 which, however, was limited to Switzerland, not extensible. However Aerofly FS 2 is. The makers are really active. They already completed an SDK (inclucing scenery development interfaces and available from them on request) and some high-res contents for the S/W US.

Aerofly FS 2 is photo-based, and I understand there are high-quality orthophotos available for NZ, and there are people around here who know quite well how to handle them.

I would be well willing to pay up to ~100 US $ for high-quality NZ Aerofly FS 2 photoscenery. Anyone else? The userbase is certainly very small yet (estimated ~3000), but (i) will only grow if high-quality add-ons are available and (ii) I bet the percentage of Aerofly FS 2 user willing to pay for good contents is higher than with, say, FSX.

Kind regards, Michael

The default building textures and and the default aircraft look OK, reminds me when FS was starting to get more inventive in the mid late 1990s that other brands popped out but never seemed to progress and fizzled out , Flight Unlimited I/II/III and the Fly I/II. I always seemed to go back to FS6 and follow the progression , I think mainly because you could fly the world.

You are right, the approach is indeed close to Flight Unlimited II/III, which I remember with love, too. I hope it willl not go the same way...

FS 2 is certainly doing well in the race for a great modern sim. They seem to be keen to help developers get stuck into large areas, of course this can only help their market penetration, otherwise they'd have to do everything themselves, which might take years.

So yeah, this would be a good chance for someone local to complete a very nice, innovative project. Pity there isn't any nice Alps photos available, otherwise I'd have a wee look myself. On the other hand, after working all weekend, I'm very much aware of just how much work is involved in making scenery -- and I'm just working on a small part of NZ, not the whole thing!

Still, if someone wants to make a start, I'm all for it.
