Galatea/Murupara for FSX

Support for Timmos FSX photoreal scenery projects from the VisualiseIT project

Postby Timmo » Wed Aug 26, 2009 1:05 pm

Hey Guys- Ive just been putting the finishing touches on Galatea aerodrome and surrounds- The Galatea aerodrome doesn't even exist in the default FSX airport database, and in real life is just two buildings and a grass strip.

However, my first solo cross country in real life flying was between Whakatane- Rotorua and Galatea.....since the other two airports have already been modelled by myself and Robin respectively, Galatea was the final piece of the puzzle.

It features scratch built Galatea aerodrome with bump mapped buildings, large area of autogenned photoreal and the Murupara mill/train yards which include custom NZ trains!

Have a look!

Cheers

Sweet sweet... being a train-fan as well as a flight-simmer and a fisherman who spends lots of time near Murupara I'm pretty excited about this.. punk.gif

Nope trains dont go anywhere unfortunately....I don't think that is possible to the best of my knowledge. Lets just say, in typical NZ train fashion, they have broken down tongue.gif

haha yeah I was just slewing around in those pics.....slewing actually exists in the real R22....the trick is finding the 'y' key in the cockpit winkyy.gif

Where is the lakeland helo base in real life?

Ill have to go and have a look for the 'y' key next time I go flying. Lakelands bases are on the main road just before Murupara and down Golf Rd past Murupara. Last time I was out there the UH1s lived on the main road and the JR and R22 lived down Golf Rd.

LOVE the scenery, especially the 4th pic down and the shot showing the buildings on the airfield.

Cool! Looking forward to landing there!
Sick of landing on the generic grass strip in FSX haha

The link you posted above doesn't appear to work...

Sorry to dig up and old thread, saw this and thought I must have it due to the amount of times I've been there on x/cs and it's not there on FSX default sad.gif
Is this completly finished or still beta?

Yeah this is finished- Apparently there is a helicopter base near the golf course but I don't have source photos for it so can't model it.
