NZFF January 2018 Screenshot Competition - the WINNERS!

Postby Adamski » Wed Jan 31, 2018 11:01 pm

Voting for the January 2018 Screenshot Competition is now open!
All registered NZFF members may vote - not just the entrants
.

"STOL in New Zealand"
Wikipedia entry: "A short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft is an aircraft with short runway requirements for takeoff and landing. Many STOL-designed aircraft also feature various arrangements for use on runways with harsh conditions (such as high altitude or ice). STOL aircraft, including those used in scheduled passenger airline operations, have also been operated from STOLport airfields which feature short runways."
NOTE: STOL is different to VSTOL - which would include aircraft capable of vertical takeoffs ... so no choppers, please!

This month's competition is kindly sponsored by Carenado. The winner will receive a download of their choice from the excellent Carenado Product Range.

NOTE: We have TWO categories for voting:

  1. Visual Appeal: the winner gets their image displayed as a banner for the following month.
Please vote for the image you find the most appealing.
  2. Relevance to the Theme: the winner gets the sponsored prize and sets the theme for the next screencomp.
Please vote for the image you think best fits the theme.

The two votes can go to the same entry or to different ones, but please place a vote in BOTH categories.
Voting will close at midnight on Monday 5th February.

How to vote: just place a reply in this topic (below) - along the lines of Visuals vote to XXXX and Relevance (theme) vote to YYYY.
If you wish, add why you voted the way they you did. Please don't vote for your own entry (!!).

I'll get the ball rolling ...

My VISUALS vote goes to BobL's Fieldair DHC-2 Beaver - you just can't beat that location!!!!
Looks like Marty's going for the World Record for C-130 comp winners - and it's such a *classic* STOL aircraft - how can I resist? So ... RELEVANCE vote to Splitpin!!!

Visual Appeal: Roelio: Superb colour combo in the screenshot and PC12 - nice performer also.
Relevance to the Theme: Phil: Ex ANZ Eng. Always admired Aerospace top-dressing aircraft with their STOL capabilities.

Visual Appeal: BobL's Beaver trying to land at Martins Bay because view is fantastic.
Relevance to the Theme: JMBIII's Practicing Short Take-Offs for the WOW Airshow because it shows clear irrefutable proof of STOL capability in correlation to view of runway.

Visual: toprob - look at that vista.
Theme: dbcunnz - the Caribou is a great rumbly.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Both my votes to Phil (Ex ANZ Eng) Relevance is 100% "Stol in NZ" . A kiwi built aircraft designed to do what was basically invented in NZ (Top dressing) operating off short rough strips .
And visual ... well ....great back drop , lighting , angle ...and its doing the business .
Phil , i think you STOL the show

Visuals vote to No 1 Adam
Relevance (theme) vote, that’s a hard one as they are all relevant.
However I will go with No 8 dbcunnz

Tough choice, but for me it is;
Visual Appeal - 05 Splitpin - almost photographic quality (must give my settings a tweak....lol)
Relevance - 06 Toprob - ag planes land on a postage stamp :-)

Cheers

Pathetic, really. I can understand people thinking entering may require a little effort, but voting only takes a minute.
