It's the biggest single drawback of AFS2 in my opinion: the creators do not have any inclination to accommodate the screenshotists!
You can't slew the aircraft, and the replay ribbon stays visible no matter what I do.
You can in theory move the camera about, but it's akin to having to lug it up the mountain, look where you came from, and then trying to get back there but a little displaced.

Nice clip however, and a really crisp capture!
How'd you get that?

Thanks Charl
I've taken your advice, and I can zoom right in when I'm on the location screen and move the aircraft reasonably accurately.
Re the screengrab, for youtube, I use a free old thing called screenhunter7 ...like you, the ribbon is a pain so always adjust the shot to allow that to be cropped out.

Gentlemen - if you go into the AFS2 Settings, move to Simulation and scroll down a couple of lines, you will see where to change the screenie settings. I reversed the default assignments so that now:
S = Take Screenshot without overlays
Shift+S = Screenshot with overlays
The shots will finish up as .bmps in Documents/AFS2/screenshots and you can then edit them to your heart's content.
The pics below, taken seconds apart with the sim paused, show the result

You can also move the Sun forward or back using T and Shift+T

Charl ...the project won't work ... well maybe not as planned.
Problem is, there is no decent camera for port side shots without including an engine. So I changed the destination to a Newark approach which I have seen video of, and AFS has a camera on that side.
I estimated the height to be about 3 to 3500 feet ...etc. Really have to start again with video from the port side ...then work out the time of day the video was taken.... blah blah... good brain food.

Anyway ..... the only non-engine port side view (cropped) A-320.

Reverse course shot, same time.

Keyboard keys (not NumPad) 1 to 5 provide a variety of views. Within each key, repeated pressing cycles through up to 5 views. Some are duplicated on other keys, most can be zoomed in or out and also panned with the hat switch.
All of that can be done with the sim paused, including moving the Sun around to give the best lighting. Not sure that I need to fly my screenies these days, but I still do because it is an excuse to fly :D

Mike have you been able to get rid of the replay ribbon in video clips?

And: I went scratching, here's the real deal
There are sufficient survivors of Botophuket to demonstrate how you can nail R vs S with a proper floating camera.

Well that's that mess sorted. :D
The Settings pic is what I have. The three Move assignments let you move your eye point within a camera view.

You can mouse the views, too: scroll, click/drag, and move.
TrackIR works too now I think about it.

I reckon that is pretty darn good ....yep, I do.

Are we looking for, representation or replication? Each sim on its own terms I think. Very easy to get caught up in the moment, beautiful as it is.

Imagine if all these people ...MSFS, XPlane, AFS2, Lockheed Martin, the Warthunder, and IL2 guys got together with Orbx, Rex, and all the other addon developers. I know they have in a way, but a little love sharing can go a long way.
The problem then, I suppose would be the hardware to run it, but those guys are moving real fast as well ...so add AMD, NVIDIA, INTEL to the guest list...
