Motorbikin' Bits and Bobs....

Postby Fozzer » Mon Jul 13, 2015 9:06 pm

Hello Bikin' Chums!.... :D ...!

Met a bloke in Sainsbury's yesterday with his Harley Davidson '79 XLS Sportster Bobber....

http://www.sporty-ironheads.com/ironhea ... _Shaun.php

Had a good-old chat....He has a collection of different Harleys!....Wonderful sound!

After 65 years of owning Brit and Jap bikes, I used to hate "Harley's", 'cos they always reminded me of the worst bits of the "USA".....

...but now, after studying their history, and the design of their vee-twins, I have now got to appreciate them for the first time....

..so much so, that I am now on the search for a nice vee-twin cruiser, to tour comfortably around the English countryside, instead of racing around on my Brit and Jap sports bikes!

....I'm getting too old for racing around now!... ...!

I really do enjoy watching the Harley rider groups touring around the Western USA on You-Tube, and wish I was amongst them!

Harley's are far too expensive over here, so a nice air-cooled Yamaha Dragstar or Virago vee-twin should do the trick...and a LOT cheaper!

Got to make the most of the Summer Bikin' weather now!

...any more Bikin' tales, Chums?....

Paul....Bike it...You'll like it!.... :D

Many hundred of years ago .. least last century it twas, was a shop here in CHCH that dealt only in Harley's and the 'super' well back then the very exotic Moto-Guzi, Ducati's and Laverda , I recall back then even the cheapest was just under $30,000NZ for the Harley , never was a hog man , preferred the bike you could fly course Japanese had the style.

You terror!.... :ph43r: ....!

I was desperately trying to start a new thread for all those interested in two-wheeled transport instead of strange machines with propellers in the front, (and on the top)....!

I run a similar Motorbike thread in Sim V, and Ian thought it might be a good idea to start one here!

(He also suggested a thread for those of us who like Cooking nice things to eat)... ...!

Its nice to read about other methods of transport, and other things, now and again.... :D ...!

I am a Moderator on another (non flight Sim) Forum, and it worries me/terrifies me to know that I have the power to Edit, or even remove/Delete another Poster's thread, ....whether by intention, or accidentally pressing the wrong button!

...I wish I wasn't a Moderator (or Admin)....I could sleep better at nights then!... ...!

WOWZERS!... ....!

My Thread is back again.... :groupwave: ...!

I see that while it has been away, Dean has done full service on it.
An oil and filter change, pumped the tyres up, lubed the cables, adjusted the clutch (it was dragging a bit), given the chrome a nice polish, and topped the fuel tank up with a gallon (not litres!) of Shell's finest!
...Thank-you Dean.... ...!

The bad news...

He called me a.."DUDE"... ...!

What we need now is the missing Photo of someone's "New Bike" which appeared in the thread just before it went missing!..... :wink2: ...!

To fill up the space, here is a shot of one of my babies, gleaming in the sunshine...>>>

Image

So much chrome takes a lot of looking after... ...!

A shot of my Honda CB 500RR coming later...(she is resting at the moment)... :sleepy: ...!

Paul..... :D ...!

P.S... and don't anyone call me a; "DUDE", or a; "GUY" again!!.... ...!

LOL .. I didnt think anyone had noticed :) (ps Love that Yamaha Paul, what a beauty)

OK as Fozzer says I've bought meself a new scooter to commute on, picked it up 3 weeks ago, a Honda Grom, 125cc of super power :). Have filled the tank twice since and has cost $8 for a full tank which I've been getting about 160km out of, I'm sure you smart guys can do the math on that, basically its "smell of an oily rag material" ... super fun to ride and gets some hilarious reactions from people.

This is me on the test ride before I bought it..
