Anyone know the story about the four wrapped Virgin ATR's at Nelson ?

Yes.

They're stored there until they're sold as VARA is reducing the amount of them that they're using.

I have seen the MRC aviation info but just interested to find why in New Zealand ?

Airnz Regional Maintance has the heavy maintenance contract with them, so I would assume that any end of lease/flying mainance would be carried out, and to save money on flying them back to park up somewhere in Oz, they got a good deal with that eairport company to park them in NSN.
