Digital Foundry comparison benchmark graphical FPS review and commentary on the way Flight Simulator 2020 is pushing GPU and indeed CPU hardware in a way we've never seen before.

... and as ever, unless you approach these things with a blank cheque: one off bleeding edge is the sweet spot.
Look no further than the RTX 3070.
With a hot CPU.

A disappointing performance increase over the 3080 at only 8.8 to 10% (for double the price). However they speculate that may be due to software constraining it's ultimate performance.
But 24 GB of RAM .....niiiccceee.

I have always looked for a good graphics card, not a cooling system with graphics capability. Really, if you need a computer to show you the difference between one card and another, you are not likely to spot it with the old Mk1 human eyeball. That said, my usual source for that kind of thing is here: https://www.computeralliance.com.au/vid ... 8gb-memory and they are offering the 2060 range of cards with lots of dollars off.
Right now though, I think a large capacity SSD (or two) would be of more use to me. Whatever I get will be superseded in three months and obsolete in six :o
