Direct flights YBBN - YWOL

Postby emfrat » Mon Nov 12, 2018 6:45 pm

Darling daughter informed me that Fly Corporate , a regional operator who has taken up many of the failed JetGo routes, are starting direct flights between Bris-bunn and Wollongong, which is not only where HARS lives but is also very handy for the kids' place. I'm already booked, down on Dec 21 and back on Dec 28.
They use SAAB 340Bs on this route and elsewhere and Metroliners on others.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

That’s rather a long flight on a Saab....

It's only two hours flight time, allowing for daylight saving. Few things can be worse than YSSY-YBBN in a 767 - talk about cruel and unusual punishment !

That was a couple of enjoyable flights in a SAAB 340B :) On descent into BNE, it got a bit bumptious thanks to the light overcast and a moderate nor-easter, but that is only to be expected with a smaller airliner. Long time since I saw my old stamping ground in the Illawarra from the air. 2hrs each way, a nice single seat with a window, and the only thing I didn't like was the armrest being so low.
One thing I do like about sitting abaft the wing in a turboprop, is thinking "Ha-ha, their scenery has blurries too"
