Flying Amphibian in New Zealand..

Can You give me some hints about existing "Water runways" in New Zealand to fly with the Flysimware G-44?

Typically, Widgeons were "native" to Fiordland/Stewart Island courtesy of Amphibian Airways Ltd (1951-1962) and the Hauraki Gulf with NZ Tourist Air Travel (1955-1967).

I have a facsimile Amphibian Airways brochure which gives some 50+ charter destinations throughout Fiordland (Lake Hauroko, Supper Cove, Preservation Inlet, et cetera) where AA flew hunting parties in/out of the deep south. AA repaints would be ZK-AVM and BAY and operated out of Invercargill Airport.

For details of TAT and their operations, try and get a hold of Fred Ladd's "A Shower of Spray and We're Away", Reed Pub.

I don't know of any in the default FSX NZ scenery. However there are some addons, which model seaplane bases. It is quite easy to create your own water runways - you need just a starting point and a name.
If you search at Avsim FSX: Scenery for rotorua you will find some of toprob's scenery, which includes a floatplane base but does not provide a starting point. Best thing there is to taxi to a jetty, and save your flight at that point.
Scott Hickey has also modelled the Mechanic's Bay heliport in Auckland, which you can use as a starting point for amphibians. Search Avsim for Auckland
I have these installed. In your search for Auckland, you will also find some seaplane sceneries by Godfrey Tier.. I have not tried these, because they are set for ORBX, which I do not use. Nothing wrong with Goff's work - I used a lot in my FS9.
At Half Moon Bay on Stewart Island, the Widgeons just ran up onto the beach., so you could create a start point there, or as I said earlier, just land, taxi onto the beach, and save your flight at that point.
Sorry to be so slow in answering - I was overseas when I first saw your request, and then I forgot about it. :(

All the Best

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Thank You for these first hints. Think, we have the right aircraft and now it is time to use them as such.

You could do this tour :-)

Don't have to join IVAO, just download the legs, read the notes and fly!

Of course better with some Great NZ scenery

Unforunately, the Scott Hickey scenery is not the one I thought I was using. The Mechanic's Bay I have is part of Rob's RealNZ Supercity, a 'legacy product' which is no longer available.
