NZ Business Jets AI project

The official Forum for the GNZLAP and Charl's other NZ AI addons

Postby deeknow » Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:20 pm

!! V1.0 RELEASED
Nov 16 2008 !!
download from avsim.com, filename: nzai-bizjets-v1.zip

Had a wee messaging exchange with Charl recently about an Air National repaint I'd done of their IAI Westwind-II
for AI purposes. The biz-jets don't fit into the 5-tonne weight cutoff of the GNZLAP project so he suggested I consider a package of NZ based biz-jets. I've done a bit of digging around on the Interweb and come up with a starting list (which others have subsequently contributed to) of NZ registered or operating business/corporate Jets.

NZ Registered Bizjets

If you know of any other resident jets in the country please post to the end of this thread.

There are a heap of other mostly Australian and US registered machines that fly in and out fairly regularly but they're probably better delivered by the VOZ AI project. If you're interested in the machines that are based in various countries check out the LAAS Current Corporate Jet Register. To keep an eye on comings and goins here in NZ check out Mike Condon's MRC Aviation Blog

A rough-but-close-enough repaint has been done of ZK-RML and if anyone else feels inclined to fire up Gimp or Photoshop and do a couple post back here to let us know so we don't get double-ups or wasted effort. I'll have a crack at one or two more shortly but am no expert on the repainting front.

AI Models and Repaint Kits

Here are some AI models and/or repaint kits that should be useful for the various repaints. Most of these are FS9/2004 specific models but would be interesting to know if anyone is able to run them in FSX as AI as well?
  • Bombardier Global Express XRS
Note: There is a fully flyable model from Thinus Pretorius (BGE.zip) but may not be suitable for AI use
AlphaIndiaGroup have a team working on a model right now, see forum post
  • Cessna Citation Mustang
    Model: Chuck Dome Filename:
    jjmustng.zip
Model: John B. Loney Filename: c510cmv1.zip
Note: neither are AI models but seem to have fairly low polygon counts
  • Cessna Citationjet CJ3
Model: Dee Waldron Filename: paintkit_cessna_citation_ii.zip (avsim)
Note: the Waldron model is actually a 550 series Citationjet and is avail with the WOAI Citation 550 package, there doesnt seem to be an AI model for the 525 Citation which is what ZK-TBM is. There are fully flyable models but will probably be too much overhead
  • Dassault Falcon 900
    Model: PAI Filename: pai_install_model_dassault_f900.zip
  • Gulfstream IVSP
    Model: HTAI Filename: paintkit_gulfstream_g-iv.zip
  • Gulfstream G200
Note: may not be an AI model currently avail which matches this particular machine but is similar to a Gulfstream IV or G-II
  • Hawker 800XP
Model: Henry Tomkiewicz Filename: paintkit_bae_hs-125-800.zip (avsim)
  • IAI Westwind II
    Model:Henry Tomkiewicz Filename: ai_iai_1124a_westwind_2.zip
Note: base model and Australian textures distributed with VOZ AI pack
  • LearJet 35
    Model: HTAI Filename: paintkit_gates_learjet_35.zip
Will also be great to knock up some flight-plans too, Nunner has volunteered to do that clapping.gif
As Charl pointed out tho we probably dont want to be "tripping over them everywhere" but some legs out and back from their usual base aerodrome and maybe the odd south pacific flight would be pretty cool. Once their all done we could post a package to AVSIM, not much point in drip-feeding them one-by one just yet I dont think.

cheers all.
Dean

Ultimate GA have alot of Biz Jets packages for FS9. I haven't tried them in FSX but there is one of ZK-KFB in the old colours in their GIV pack. http://www.ultimatega.com/library/category.php?id=2

Good idea!

The list is fairly complete - except

- N800DT is a Citation 1 not a Mustang

- A Gulfstream G11 is quite different to a G200 - a G11 is more like a G1V

- There is also Falcon 900EX based in Auckland owned by Sleepyhead - N146EX see here

- there is a Global Express XRS N57LE based in Auckland owned by Rank (Graham Hart) - yes he sold his BBJ - see here -= scroll down to the bottom of page

The Lass site is good but no right up to date

The Lowe corp Mustang is based in Hastings, the Hawker 800 is based in Auckland and the Citation 1 is based at Ardmore

Nice one, cheers AT. Those packages seem remarkably similar to the WOAI ones. I'll suck them down at home tonite and have a good look thru em.

Hokayy...I'll see your IAI Westwind, and raise you one Lear 35:
  • ZK-XVL Learjet 35A (ex N35QB)

Think to have meaning in the NZ context, it might be an idea to have these sit around in NZ quite a lot, then flit off and back.
I'm not all that keen to go looking for them in Honduras

Doh!! .. thanx for reminding me. I'll do ZK-TBM the Cessna Citation Jet then. I just had a look at the Ultimate GA site and the Gulfstream IV pack is 41MB in size which seems a lot to download when you're possibly only wanting one repaint. Their download agreement is pretty specific about not redistributing any components of the pack. I wonder if it wouldnt be easier just to do another repaint of our own for it?

BTW, here's a screenie of ZK-RML...

[*]Gulfstream G-II
Note: no G-II AI models currently avail - apparently similar to a Gulfstream IV

What I meant to say is that the G200 (ZK-RGB ) is not like a G1V or G2 its a completey different animal - havent seen any flight sim models of it - although there might be something around

Cheers

Paul

Yep, my repaint for the Westwind is here.

And yeah if you wanna knock up some flightplans that would be sweet too, go for it, like Charl said I guess it would be nice to see them on the ground at their home base some of the time, and popping out and back to mostly NZ airports on randomish charter flights

Ooops sorry I have just found the RML repaint as part of the "HTAI _iai_westwind repaint package 3"
from memory I think there are Parts 1,2,3&4.
Nunner
PS Dont know how accurate the paint is though

Cool. Post up a screenie if you can or let us know what you think about the paintjob once you get it into your Sim. Mines a bit rough so if the HTAI package one is better we can just use that

Hmm all I could find for a G200 (IAI galaxy is the same aircraft) was this old FS98 aircaft so not sure if that would work

ZK-TBM fresh out of the paint-shop and sitting at NZQN after a charter flight down from its base at NZCH
(ok, so its a Citation JetII instead of a III but its pretty close, added an extra passenger window and tweaked the cockpit windows a little to make it look a bit more acurate. Jeeze those curves were a pain, at least I'm learning a thing or two about Gimp along the way)
