Well it's the end of the year, time to relax...what's everyone been doing?
Browsing the screenshots of the last year, and finding old threads to pick up, of course.
So, to continue, down south there are plenty of excellent airport sceneries to visit :

These are from RealNZ Wanaka (http://www.windowlight.co.nz/)

I've grown fond of Ian Warren's NZCH all over again, and it's now got all sorts of AI goodies to make it come alive.

...and while at Christchurch, thought I'd try out some of Opensky's latest offerings:

BBJ, for that quick holiday in the Bahamas perhaps?

and B737-900. This little twin has now grown up, to the extent that it takes more passengers than the original Boeing 707!

wow that NZCH looks awesome charl! even the singapore A340, I installed all the correct airline packages from pai and I still got no A340 or singapore 77 and the traffic flows are real low too...

btw how do you use that scenery with out the building crashes? I realy like it but found turning crash detection off before landing to be unrealistic cos I don't know if I landed realistically.

Yeah I griped about building crashes too, plus the fact that the A/C don't cast shadows on the ramp.
But this is stuff you have to live with, because of the way the scenery was constructed at the time (i.e. not G-Max).
I turn off crash detection as I enter the taxiway from the runway, and take my screenshots from a slight distance away, when shadows come back for some reason.
But take a step back and look at the airport, it's superb, remember it's originally a FS2002 scenery, and freeware too!
The AI traffic is all VOZ Mk1
EDIT: ...and GNZLAP, of course!

doesn't get boggy at TG????

I remember the rescue vehicle and trailer one day getting bogged in the big field on the southern side during an exercise - then the replacement vehicle didn't fit the towbar and then metropolitan fire nearly got stuck helping and finally the airport tractor pulled them out - end of exercise

lost a few golf balls in the horse paddock behind the aeroclub as well <_<

and I'm sure my car must have got bogged outside the TG aeroclub a few times ( at least thats my excuse)

What a great series of shots - I am pleased I can almost replicate them - one question how do you get the Bay Flight Cessnas to sit whre they suppose to be?

Cheers

Thanks Paul
There's a modified AFCAD I forgot to include in GNZLAP 4

All the way down South, now.
Airport by Ian "Wingman" Warren again, at Invercargill:

Not a great deal of AI traffic to be sure, but then this is a little out of the way.
The airport is set in superb photoreal scenery.
Now that I understand a little of what's involved, I took time to admire the meticulous autogen placement

Thanks for pointing out Murray's role Ian.
You 100% convinced you can't lose the static planes on the apron?
There's more AI coming here if you do...

Still cruising around down south, and Mal Lloyd's Gippsland repaints can be found doing the Alpine rounds:

Following one in my (non-NZ!) Porter, surprised to find it managed to put down on Tasman Glacier!
This is an "Easter Egg" found in Peter Lohr's excellent Mt Cook airport scenery

And following the glacier back down to the airport, lots of Mt Cook airlines statics, plus GNZLAP AI. Not to mention the Squirrels!

Ah yes I saw those a while back and was very pleasently surprised :D

Always looked that way in my sim - sloping terrain so one end of the rwy is sunk and the other is a sore thumb.
Never thought about doing anything to it
You have a better one?

Almost got left out - quick nip over to the east coast, for a look at another of Robin Corn's creations:

Interesting to see AI Piper FGH come in from Dunedin, and on long finals go back in the circuit because the RW weather at lower altitude had a 110deg wind shift.
It eventually came in on the opposite approach.

EDIT: Heath Wells' excellent photoreal scenery is a must, it's made to compliment Robin's airport.

I never noticed anything out of the ordinary, but after a second look I saw a that the airport is built on a gentley sloping mound:

This may be due to the 'TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19' line in my fs9.cfg, as all my NZ airports fit on the mesh fine, except the very side of the runway at REAL NZ NZWN airport which has a few small dips and floating rocky barrier.
