Here are a few photos I've taken over the last couple of weeks at Ardmore, mostly during my lunchbreaks or after school finishes. (I'm attending Ardmore Flying School) smile.gif Enjoy!

P-40 Kittyhawk, ZK-CAG "Currawong".

Eurocopter EC130 B4 ZK-HSW, owned by Advanced Flight who own most of the Eurocopters based at Ardmore. (Eurocopter have their NZ base here)

P-51D ZK-TAF with the engine cowlings off; check out that engine! drool.gif

The infamous MiG-21. (not in flying condition as I'm sure you can see)

Now that is an engine! notworthy.gif

$8,000 will buy you this...

...and then probably another eight grand just to get the engine started.

Cockpit of one of Auckland Aero Club's Cirrus SR20s. ZK-SRT. Note the sidestick controllers, and the parachute mechanism on the ceiling for use in case of engine failure.

Partenavia P68C ZK-SMB. Owned by Systems Advisory Services. Sorry about the quality but this was taken from inside a hangar.

Your pictures are beautifully crisp, and some thoughtful shots too.
But I have to tell you, it took me a while to get through them all, because there is this Mustang picture...

Cool Leo, and fancy avionics in the P68 and Cirrus! drool.gif

Great pics- That Kittyhawk was flying around at Whenuapai today for the airshow- great sounding aircraft drool.gif

I agree, it is a very nice plane. The owner of Ardmore Flying School co-owns it along with her husband. I'm heading down to Tauranga next weekend with some friends in ZK-JAZ (Auckland Aero Club C172), weather permitting of course, so I'll try and get some more photos then.

I'll try to get some photos of the a-37 dragonfly as my dad's friend who owns Ardmore Helicopters Ltd is a co-owner of the A-37 so I will also try to get a flight on it when they next go up.
Alex
Awesome pics there, I like the cockpit shot of the Cirrus the best. biggrin.gif

After having a discussion, the Mig, will never be flying in NZ, as there is no runway long enough for it (apart from AA..... but i dont think they'll appreciate picking up a parachute every time it lands) And I wouldnt mind getting a type rating in a cirrus (but only the SR22..... hopefully the GTS one)
ZK-Brock
The MiG takes that much runway? Jeez louise!
FlyingKiwi
The Cirrus is a nice plane. Apparently ASL and CAA are going to make glass cockpit theory standard in the next few years, which makes sense given that many light aircraft come with a glass cockpit as the standard equipment now.

Hayden - The Dragonfly is a really cool looking place, hope to see some photos in future! smile.gif
Alex
Isn't runway 02/20 at NZCH longer than 05R/23L at NZAA? smile.gif

Cool I have sat in that Cirrus a few times VERY Nice
JAZ is a great aircraft I had the chance to fly her about a month ago
Trolly
Since when did AAC get a Cirrus? It's so sleek!

Also, about the A-37, where is it based and does it frequently fly? I'm pretty sure that yesterday at WP was the only time I have seen it in my life..
ZK-Brock
Gah jeez I wish I lived near ardmore ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

You don't see Migs, A-37s and Mustangs at NZNS!!! sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif Only Tecnams and Cessnas ohmy.gif

Alex

23L/05R has a landing distance of 3292m and 02/20 has a landing distance of 3288m
Auckland has a larger ASDA, Trolly, AAC got two SR20's from Cirrus Australasia (based in oz) to give models for prospective customers here to buy.... they are both reg'd to Cirrus Australasia
Alex
Ah ok, must have not been thinking properly, pretty close though. rolleyes.gif

AA's ASDA is a few hundred metres longer, just has large displaced thresholds
Alex
Ah ok, thanks. smile.gif

Trolly, the A-37 is based at Ardmore and flies out of there quite often, I probably see it flying a couple of times per week on average.

Is this in addition to the 2 L-39s already in NZ in New Plymouth and Wanaka? *imagines four-ship L-39 formation* drool.gif
A185F
Correct. I believe one is allready there although I havent been to ns in a couple of months so haven't seen it. ZK-TCS (The copter shop)
ZK-Brock
I've heard something about both a Cirrus and a Provost Jet (I assume this is an L39) flying round NS, the Nelson Aero CLub CFI has been flying both (and is getting rated on the Provost). Apparently it's an ergonomic nightmare!
