Welcome to the NZFF March 2012 Screenshot Competition.

This month's rules are as follows (Please read them).

1) The screenshot [b]image must consist of a screen captured from a Flight Simulator program[/b] (FS2004 or FSX,) and the position of the shot must be from somewhere within the New Zealand territory.

2) Some editing is allowed (if you know how to do it.) Additional images - either screenshots or "real" images can be added - but the main component of the image should always be of a Flight sim screen capture.

3) The images must be jpg and size must be at least 1024 pixels wide and no wider than 1280 pixels -- A good free resizing program can be found at http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm.
3a) No frames or txt to be left on the image. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

4) Images can be submitted from March 1st until midnight 31st March 2012, with only one entry of a single image per member.
You can change your image anytime up until 1 hour before the closing time.
To change use the edit button at the bottom of your post, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one If you post comments using the quote or reply button please edit out all images from your reply or quote.

5) Soon after the competition ends, a poll will open for members to decide who has the best image, and then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the prize for the month.

6) This month's theme: “RNZAF 75th ANNAVERSARY” Any NZ registered RNZAF aircraft that has been used by the RNZAF in the last 75 years and in the appropriate RNZAF livery for the period it was in service. (Please state Aircraft details and over what part of New Zealand the image was taken)

Quick question here...can we include RNZAF sqns in the RAF in WW2 (ie 485 sqn)?

One for the rules ... 485 or even 75 squadron in WWII , The first Royal New Zealand Air Force unit was grouped at Feltwell in January 1940 No.3 group , April that year was to become No.75 squadron NZ , off all things was the first Commonwealth unit in Bomber Command .

The groups were posted not on NZ shores but created , for the 75th Celebration maybe a lapse with being over NZ territory simply for the World War aircrew .

Ty, the advance playback feature of fsrecorder has cut down the hassle of setting this up by hours ,just record one ship then in advance playback option set another and another etc ,very easy to setup up this type of shot in about 3 min ,id just like to add these Harvards "Redcheckers"were the first display aircraft id ever seen , i was about 7 years old /1982 on top of Mount Victoria as a school trip in the Old Devonport bedford buses which was a very scary experience for about the whole left side of the bus

The three RNZAF aircraft are sporting custom "75-Year" repaints and follow Brendon Deere's PV270 in remembrance of Kiwi pilots in WWII.

Nice formation Adam...it seems the Spitfire is sneaking into the RNZAF shots!

Did a million P-51 shots (and a few Tiger Moth) but ended up liking this one the best - only thing is that I may change it as it seems too much like Adam's winning shot for this month...

Anything rear 3/4 on a Mustang is always going to look like ... ermmm ... a Mustang! Very distinctive ... hard to get away from it. I expect you'd have more fun in the Moth though, it being such an amazing add-on.

If it makes you feel any better, I spent an hour or two getting the formation to fly past the hangars at NZWP ... snapped what I thought was a good one ... except it did feel a bit "familiar". Only when I looked at all the pics after the session, did I realise it was almost a carbon copy of the Mustang one ... with just a few more planes .... back to the drawing board!!!

At whom was the last aimed? My lack of knowledge about all things New Zealand is well known.

I think it may of been aimed at three entries including yourself - we (as in RNZAF) had no Spitfires (only in the RAF as a NZ sqn)...as for the F-16s - rather a sad story - the Govt at the time got rid of our teeth and cancelled the F-16 order so we dont have any - or any combat aircraft so technically we didn't have F-16s.

Here's a list of RNZAF operated aircraft (although you will need to exclude the ones in the RAF which are noted)...also there maybe a question mark over the Seasprite since they are Navy owned but RNZAF operated so I would say yes to that type.

There you go. Had Doug mentioned 'cancelled orders', I'd have known right away. While I realize this is a 'New Zealand' forum, cut a little slack for those of us who get most of our Kiwi info from Google.

Sorry about that Dave but there is this line in the rules If you have any queries about the rules please PM me for clarification before posting your entry.
It would have been a bit like the NH90 (on order) but as one has arrived they can be entered.
It was a very sad day for the RNZAF when F16s were canceled.
As for the Spitfire in Adamski's image it is quite acceptable to have a none RNZAF aircraft in the background but not as the main subject of the image.

It's highly probable that this will be the line-up for flypasts at Ohakea - with PV270 representing Kiwi pilots that took part in past conflicts.

So they have been used by the RNZAF in the last 75 years ,and we now have NZreg mock ups of those planes here in NZ used for displays /history /education of the RNZAF pilots that went to war for our country ..

And there's also the word 'mythical' included with the two RNZAF F16 paints in your library. Funny what your mind's eye chooses to overlook. Working on a new winner as we speak .
