There's an updated press released on the AirNZ site about the 787 arrival...

The Boeing 787 will touch down in New Zealand for the first time on Saturday morning 12 November at Auckland International Airport.... Air New Zealand is hosting the aircraft at its engineering base at Auckland Airport for two days.... The aircraft’s flight path over Auckland will depend on weather and wind conditions on the day but its arrival at Auckland Airport is expected at approximately 10am.

Traffic Jam may be? if it gets the same type of turn out for the 787 as the qantas a380 got.

Flying up from Christchurch to see this so I hope it is good weather!
Some info below: (pretty much the same as in the link deeknow posted)

The arrival of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be streamed live on the internet at www.slipstream.co.nz/airnz<http://www.slipstream.co.nz/airnz> from approximately 9.45am on Saturday morning 12 November.
People will be able to watch live air-to-air footage from a helicopter following the aircraft’s journey over Auckland before touching down at Auckland International Airport at approximately 10am.
The aircraft’s flight path over Auckland will depend on weather and wind conditions on the day but will follow one of two routes.

Expected flight path if landing on runway 23L to the southwest:
The aircraft will approach Auckland from the northeast over Browns Bay at approximately 9.50am before tracking to Whenuapai then turning left to fly at lower altitude over the harbour bridge and past the eastern beaches before turning right for a normal approach over Manukau City to Auckland International Airport.

Expected flight path if landing on runway 05R to the northeast:
The aircraft will approach Auckland from the northeast between Waiheke Island and Motutapu Island at approximately 9.50am, turn right over Browns Island and fly at lower altitude down the harbour over the harbour bridge towards Te Atatu before turning left for a normal approach over the Manukau Heads towards Auckland International Airport.

A replay of the arrival will be available on www.theflyingsocialnetwork.com<http://www.theflyingsocialnetwork.com/> from later on Saturday afternoon.

So John , Your Dad has got you in the back door again , OK James , forget kicking the tires for us ... find out what they are made off winkyy.gif now we want plenty of photos , close ups off the structure , the joins were they use plastic model aeroplane cement .

Generally as i mention , you guys with the cameras ... shoot the bloody ell out of it , leave no panel unclicked or camera shutter unfazed by the shape , measure the windows , the cockpit .. well ? we all have seen the space shuttle insides tongue.gif so that,s no biggy plus we don,t want ABACUS building another cr@p rendition rolleyes.gif

Got an ANZ 737 and a Jetstar Airbus passing each other over Cook Strait...

Nothing close to NZAA

(Maybe it's flying under the radar??)

Ah man, that sucks! Looks like the guy turned his tracker off. 4 jets took off and I didn't see them on Flightradar24.

Thanks anyway. smile.gif

I think it landed just before 9am (hence you haven't got anything on flightradar).

She touched down pretty much on schedule. Was a great morning heaps of ppl there, when she came in over from the North for finals the atmosphere was quite exciting.

Here are a couple of shots, I'm sure there will be many more.

As my friend from the CZ would say , 'Cheese Pete' Just look like something out off Flightsim , not ABACUS tho sleep1.gif

Great photos everyone. I saw it fly over Mairangi Bay. It is a very pretty aircraft; the amount of wingflex is amazing. Ive got some pictures of it flying over but they were taken on my phone and therefore aren't worth uploading. Hope to go and see it tomorrow or Monday morning.
Ian Warren
Nice photos Jim me boy , same airline Pete took a photo off biggrin.gif , technology , in the day 20 years ago the winglets were introduced to save on the fuel and giving the designs of the day special uses over the long range sector , today they are built like spaghetti rolling up and off the wing tips and mention wing flex , wait till they flap and work like our feathered friends .... and as i always said .. I'm sure as hell not going to pick up that tube of glue to put that one together .

It should have flown across Christchurch , cos i,m so depressed with the earthquakes and what else ... the gangs and crime i needed cheering up biggrin.gif , nah really .. Look at the size of the thing , it dose not look a 777 200 size , and compare , look at how wide the trucks are .
Gavin Conroy
Nice photos everyone.
