It is here! IT IS HERE!!
The Fw190A was delivered to Omaka early this morning, and the team at JEM Aviation will now be working round the clock to assemble it and get it flying, (hopefully in time for the show). The aircraft has a distinct menace about it..., a wicked weapon for sure. An important note here is to advise that the aircraft is being worked on in an area NOT AVAILABLE TO UNAUTHORISED PERSONNEL. The JEM team are under a tonne of pressure and will not welcome people wanting to come for a peek. Please wait for the airshow and give the guys a chance to get it ready for you to see then. Any unwarranted visits will limit this possibility. If all goes to plan you'll see all you want of the 'Butcher Bird' over the Easter weekend!

thumbup1.gif Cant wait to see this one.....cheers Gavin, great pics.

Thanks for posting these...hopefully it gets around to other airshows (cant make it to Classic Fighters)...will make some great opposition to the local Spitfires, Yaks and Mustangs
Ian Warren
I think i need to fly my FW190 over Omaka tonight to give the boys some in-couraging screens , it will be flying because it would not be here otherwise , thanks Gavin for the HU and photos cool.gif

Thanks for that, Gavin!

Is this a full size version or one of those slightly smaller kits that have been produced lately? I wonder whether they'll be allowed to put a Swastika on it <?>.
Naki

Yep, the real deal - New-built, using some genuine components collected and stored from the original Marienburg factory.
I'm assuming it's a cost related issue that made them choose to run Russian ASh 82 engines, since I know for a fact that BMW have listings for all 801 series components which allows you to build an entire engine from scratch winkyy.gif

As for the Hakenkreuz, I believe it would be allowed but it gets complicated if there are German Nationals over here dealing with the rigging and ground support.
Gavin Conroy
The guys at JEM are working so hard to get these aircraft ready for the show. We wish them well a round or two will be on the bar no matter what the outcome is.
It is not often one gets a view like this in a hangar in New Zealand.
Cheers Gavin

Not quite correct, the aircraft needs to be certified etc before it can fly and other work is needed as well.
Just to let some of you know, this aeroplane will be based at Omaka permanently after the show so has not been imported just for the 2011 show.

Bit hard to say, the aircraft is pretty much fully painted now but has been covered up to protect it while the finishing work is done.
It is a very striking colour scheme thats for sure.
Gavin Conroy
The 190 has wings now.

Ian Warren
That did'nt take long , it would be all the wishful thinking from all attending the the show biggrin.gif
Gavin Conroy
It has been an awesome week, and I haven't even been flying.
Watching this FW-190 come out of the container and seeing it now being assembled is quite amazing, almost unbelieveable especially as it is only five minutes down the road.
I don't seem to miss the La-9 so much anymore smile.gif

This shot was taken today at Beer O Clock smile.gif

Thanks very much Gavin , I cannot wait to hear this wicked Wocka running ohmy.gif

Amazing to think, looking at those two aircraft side by side, that their first flights were only 20 or so years apart....
Gavin Conroy
Here are a few photos taken recently.

Will finish with a bit of video from the latest engine run.

Wow, wow, and more wow! Thanks for posting!

I've always liked the Fw190. It'll be such a treat to see it in the air. No doubt you have your "spotter" plane seat booked already, laugh.gif

I know this is an old chestnut, but I'm surprised it can't sport a swastika whilst that puny Me108 monstrosity can ...
Gavin Conroy
Bit hard to see in the other photo's

Yay!!!!!! Thanks for posting that! How did Darth Vader get in the picture?

I'm no Nazi lover (I'm Polish!) ... but an Fw190 without it looks odd. I wouldn't want this topic to go all political, so I'll stick to saying what a great pic of a superb aircraft - thanks! Looking forward to more winkyy.gif
Ian Warren
Looking forward to listen to one , the old Swastika , Adam pleased you agree , as you said without it its missing something , Just a pleasure to see this aircraft back in the air and maybe be nice to tangle with some of the B-17s cool.gif in the virtual world so to speak smile.gif

As for 'Dark Helmut' ... think i have to agree again laugh.gif

Yep she was up flying yesterday so I popped out to see it do a few circuits along with my son. Caught up with Gav Conroy as well which was great. He was hoping to be up today doing some air-to-air photography. I'm sure we will see some of his magic posted here in the near future. He also showed me his latest camera purchase - whew - what a piece of kit winkyy.gif !!

Was good to catch up yesterday mate.
Never flew with it today, weather was not good enough and if we don't do it tomorrow it will have to wait until next year.
Haven't tried that $20 piece though.

I think Gav is taking a well earned break, so might pay to be patient. If anybody watched One News Weather tonight - Jim Hickey showed an air-to-air shot of Gavin's in his intro.
Gavin Conroy
The photos are to be uses in a magazine feature or two first.
The weather came good in the end which was good but flying conditions were rough, hard to win sometimes.

Here is a quick video of one of the take offs.

Just bought a proper camera for the in cockpit stuff as well. cool.gif

Ah yes... I'll then have another fly and see if I can make the FW do that frightening bobbing thing, just before takeoff!
Charl
Second thoughts... Statics? in my sim? Never...
So, Real v Sim, take Two

0:11 use the big player (it's 1080HD), and you have to be quick!

Yeah might as well, no need to post anything as you guys can do it all with your sims and at least I won't have to stand out on the field for two hours to get 30 seconds of footage.
Ian Warren
Gavin , think i can say for the entire forum , we all prefer your real stuff cool.gif .... simply cannot beat the real deal !
