how many times have you guys had your photos stolen and published without your knowledge?
Cant say it has ever happened to me.

I think that if you post photos on the net you are putting them at risk without a watermark anyway.
Just interested, have loads published and perhaps I should be more careful?
Was going to go to Tauranga but had other stuff to do today, looks like a great day for it.
pilot.masman

A number of my speedway pictures have turned up on various bebo pages, sometimes with the copyright banner cropped off, same with the other track photogs from Huntly. The teenagers with the ministocks are the worst offenders rolleyes.gif

In a sport like that I could imagine it happening.
Not sure how much it happens in aviation though.

I do know there is a guy selling framed photos and some are mine.
Various people have told me they have seen some photos that only I could have taken so I look forward to catching up with him.
Not sure where he got the photos but will find out one day.
Must be from a disc given to an aircraft owner. The seller could let me know but we will meet at some point and am looking forward to it.

Never had photos stolen for magazine use though. Its a small market.
Have photos in two more magazines soon and they are Australian Aviation and Flightpath so good to have these magazines on board.

There is also a risk in putting photos on the net and photographers need to be aware that photos may end up in other places so the only way to stop them being stolen is not to posts them but thats not much fun.

I have loads of Air 2 Air photos from the flights with the WW1 aircraft that I took late last year and they will have a use soon so I have kept them to myself for the time being (it is really hard sometimes, would love to fire them out there) and I do keep the important stuff but airshows are different as there are loads of photographers taking photos at airshows and many get the same type of photos, its just the quality and clarity of photos that is different.
FlyingKiwi
I've had a few of my photos turn up on various websites without my knowledge - sometimes with the Airliners/Jetphotos banner along the bottom cropped off. It's a bit annoying, but I prefer not to put a watermark on them. The small number of photos that I've actually had published in books/magazines etc. were all done so with permission however.
cambridgedan
Yea i was meaning more dont take them and say they are yours to people like The News Paper, but thinking about it now they arnt really good enough quality anyway so its allgood
you would need to get my higher quality versions off ma HDD lol good luck hehe
