Welcome to Turangi Airfield, 1nm North of the township of Turangi, at the southern end of the
beautiful Lake Taupo, in the central North Island of New Zealand.
The airfield is home to the Turangi Aero Club, and is served by Mountain Air, undertaking tourist flights
around the National Park and central North Island volcanoes, and flights to the Chateau and skifields
at Mount Ruapehu.
This scenery is built to fit into the freeware "Turangi" photoreal area scenery by Robin Corn, freely available
from avsim.com, filename...... godzoneturangi.zip .
The scenery also contains an OFFICIAL GNZLAP traffic file update by Charl Du Toit.

Cool. I went past there last year. You got the tree's accurate!

I have to say you make it look a lot busier and more used (in a good way) than the real one. The real one is like a rund down shack laugh.gif

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

Well,.............. somebody's gotta love the place, and give it a reason for living,..............

You might wanna check the various pics on their website,............. its been cleaned up a little by the looks of the pics.........

Either way,......... Rob's photoreal makes it a maginificent area to fly around..........

[EDIT] Oops !! Boo-boo on my part,............. just had another look at he odd assorted pics ive got, and i think i was looking at the Mountain Air Strip at the Chateau for the buildings,............
Well, theres a nice place to set down and take a comfort stop and have lunch at Turangi now.................
At least the layout of the airfield is correct,....................oh,........ and the trees........ laugh.gif

Yet another great scenery Lawrie.

Great work!! The work you do is excellent.

I will be installing this in the next few days for the fresh install of FS2004.

Very nice Lawrie, I stopped by on the way back from Ohakea in March and took a couple of shots. Your scenery portrays it in a most favourable light. biggrin.gif

Most embarrassing really,..............
I was going to do the Mountain Air Base at the Chateau airfield as well,......... and somehow i mixed the sets of pics up that ive got.
I must have been a little tired when i started placing the buildings at Turangi, and not noticed the mixup.

I'll do an update for the Turangi scenery, with suitable ramshackle run down buildings.............

Since you're going to do a reconstruction do you want me to post any more pics that I took?

Yes please Kelburn.
I know the location of the airfield itself is correct, runway, parking, boundaries etc,.......... anything you have would help,... thank you.

Im currently also constructing the Chateau Airfield at Mt Ruapehu (NZ22 in FS if you have GNZLAP), if you have any pics of that it would help to add to what i already have.

Here's one taken from the threshold of the the runway - looking north.

Taken March 08. I may have a couple more on a Flash drive somewhere, but probably won't be able to upload/post them until tomorrow.
